As a license plate collector, you will reach the point when your interest shifts towards something specific.
One of the most fascinating, divers and interesting country to collect is Argentina.
They issued porcelain plates for about 30 years which is the longest period anywhere.
Every municipality in every province had their own plates even the smallest cities got their own ones.

I plan to write up a history of the plates but now just a brief oversight of the Argentina license plates.
There are 23 provinces and the city of Buenos Aires.

The porcelain era:

1904-1934 approximately

The aluminium era:

1923-1935

The embossed steel era:

1935-today

The ultimate dream of Argentina license plate.

1960`s or early 70`s dealer promotion license plate from province of Buenos Aires.
This plate is interwoven with history, intrigue and this was the most interesting plate to research.
If you look at he left lower corner there is a logo says "IKA".
IKA was the Kaiser car manufacturer logo which manufactured cars in Cordoba province between 1955-1970`s.

Now we move to a much more interesting part of the plate.
The dealership.
Aguirre Mastro y Cia
was owned by non other than Jorge Antonio who was a very controversial figure
in the 50`s.
He was the one who negotiated with American car makers and Mercedes Benz in Germany to start manufacturing cars in Argentina.
He supplied the rich and famous with imported fancy cars including the Peron Family.
They supplied the Mercedes to Adolf Eichmann as well.

I find a book which lists all of the Peron cars they owned even tractors.
It could not have been on any of their cars because it`s a much later issued plate. The president went exile in 1955.
